INTEGRATIVE
FITNESS
MEIR'S
Having turned 50 this past November and contemplating a career move, I decided that I was blessed
with an opportunity to follow my love and passion of fitness.  Therefore, I decided to enroll in a
personal training course at the Department of Sports at Tel Aviv University.   When I first entered the
classroom in December, I looked around at the young faces, strong bodies and hair that was not quite
as “distinguished” as mine, and thought back to my high school and college experiences.
When I was in Fair Lawn High School in New Jersey, I wrestled and played lacrosse. When I arrived at
college and took a look at the size of the athletes, I headed straight for the Hillel House!  This was not
only good for strengthening my Jewish identity and connection to Israel – it led me to a path of health
and fitness rather than competition and victory.

At Boston University, parallel to obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a major
in organizational behavior and being a student leader at Hillel, I took courses in physical fitness and
martial arts.  After moving to Israel, I obtained a masters degree in social work, completed my army
service in the tank corps and worked for a number of years as a community worker and in the field of
philanthropy and Israel – Diaspora relations.  Throughout this time period I continued to be involved in
health and fitness related activities and studied fitness training for adults and seniors at Wingate,
Israel’s leading sports institute.

Going back to my classroom experience at Tel Aviv University, I had to remember that I did not have to
compete with the younger crowd, but rather I was fulfilling a dream of learning about health and fitness
in order to help people enjoy healthier lives, filled with vigor, energy and wellbeing.  Despite my initial
concerns about my “distinguished” look, I held my own with my young colleagues and successfully
completed the program in February, 2008 and became a Certified Personal Trainer.

From business school to social work and from wrestling and lacrosse to health and fitness, my journey
continues. I am excited about teaching people how to exercise properly for the best results. As such,
I’m attaching an overview of my approach to integrative fitness.  If you or any of your friends and family
members are interested in a free introductory lesson, please

"After years of inactivity, Meir's multi-disciplined approach to fitness has made me realize that getting fit doesn't have to be boring or painful. I enjoy our lessons, each one
different from the last. Meir is patient, supportive and encouraging, just the kind of gentle approach that I need to encourage me to continue exercising."
